If you're infected with COVID-19 and called upon to care for yourself at home, or you're a caregiver for those suffering from COVID-19, and are caring for them in your home, how would you ensure everyone's safety? Hello and welcome to Science in 5. I'm Vismita Gupta-Smith. These are WHO's discussions in the field of science. and Dr. April Baller is going to explain to us today how to take care of a COVID-19 patient at home. Thank you, April. So the first scenario is that the healthcare system is stretched. It happens when is sudden growth or a surge in cases in the community, which we are seeing in several countries. Moreover, the bed capacity within the hospital is at a minimum or even full. It means that there's hardly any beds left. In this instance the only thing doctors can be able to do is see the patient and provide the treatment and advice and then discharge them to be cared for at home.April What do we think of the scenarios we're encountering in which a person is being asked to care for their own needs or care for a COVID patient at home?
